Graduate Site Manager

Full Time

the role

To form part of the project team that effectively co-ordinate labour, plant and materials required on
projects up to the value of £10 million. Ensuring all operatives are working safely and in accordance
with the RAMS. The project meets the quality standards set out within the project scope and the
project is delivered on time and under budget. The role will be to assist the Site Manager and
Contracts Manager in their day to day duties and as a result better their knowledge of the role to
progress into the role of a Site Manager in due course.

Core Duties

1. Organise start and completion dates for subcontractors which are procured by the Quantity
Surveyor.
2. Organise delivery dates with suppliers which are procured by the Quantity Surveyor.
3. Carry out Site Inductions.
4. Carry out Toolbox Talks weekly.
5. Ensure operatives are working in accordance with their RAMS.
6. Ensure the project runs in accordance with the project programme.
7. Complete site records and inspections in accordance with Coulson policies.
8. Work in partnership with a visiting Contracts Manager, Quantity Surveyor and on occasion
an Assistant Site Manager.
9. Sign off all work via the company Quality Assurance system.
10. Be involved in client meetings and pre tender interviews.

1. Making sure we provide a quality service to our clients with a “right first time on time”
approach.
2. Ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with the Company’s Quality Management
System.
3. Ensure that supply chain members are correctly procuring materials for the standards that
are being asked of within the Employers Requirements.

 

Health, Safety & Environment

 

4. Understanding of health, safety, and environment polices, CDM regulations and safe
systems of work.
5. Ensure works are being delivered inline and considers our Health, Safety & Environmental
policies.
6. Raise with the Construction Director if you believe a member of the Coulson Team is
struggling with Mental Health.
7. Take reasonable care of your own health and safety in the workplace and that of others who
may be affected by your work and raise any health and safety issues with your line manager
8. Comply with the commitments set out in the Company’s Environmental and Waste
Management Policies.

 

Programming

 

9. Ensure you remain ahead of programme to ensure there is no unnecessary programme
delay or contractual complications. This may mean using a target programme.

 

Communication

 

10. Carry out regular and effective communication between team members.
11. Develop and maintain strong professional working relationships with design teams,
consultants and clients.

 

 

General skills and knowledge

1. Have an understanding of JCT & NEC Contracts.
2. Strong and varied knowledge of methods of construction.
3. Varied knowledge of different project types / sectors.
4. Possess a good level of practical skill in the use of Microsoft Excel & Word.
5. Have a basic awareness and ability to use Microsoft Project.
6. Host and minute meetings.
7. Strong communication skills.
8. Understanding of project cost control.
9. Ability to foresee potential risk items within a project and manage them out.
