Working together with Urban & Civic, Coulson Building Group were appointed the Design and Build contractor for the pavilion project at Alconbury Weald. The pavilion provides both space for events and activities, as well as changing rooms, facilities and a kitchen for refreshments for cricketers and community alike. Design by Juice Architects, the Pavilion is a light, airy modern space the community can call its own.
The building was a traditional build through trench foundations, beam & block floor, underfloor heating, insulation and screed with structural blockwork walling forming the external & internal structure.
Various spaces were provided though WC`s, Changing Rooms, Accessible WC & Shower, Kitchen, Office, Physio, Umpire, Club room, Groundsman Room, Utility Building forming a Plant room, Bin Store & Cycle Shelter along with the main Plant room being part of the Pavilion.
The façade of the building was split into two different type of materials, these being a Forticrete brick and an Aluminium rain screen cladding and covered by a flat roof design.
Internally, the majority of the walls are exposed fair faced blockwork with no ceilings resulting in all Mechanical & Electrical services being exposed and on show. Quality materials and workmanship was important to get right on this job to ensure we handed an extremely high quality finish back to the client.
Externally, the project has benefitted from a complete new carpark design and Grass Crete access road onto the cricket pitch itself, along with new external lighting, car charging facilities, terrace decking, steps and hard & soft landscaping throughout.
The project was handed over within budget and on time, along with very high praise by the client on the quality of the finished building.
