Split into two phases – Phase 1 £3.2M and Phase 2 £12.4M, the project entailed a new build construction to form new facilities for the working dogs including kennels, training areas, vets and offices for employees.
Coulson Building Group were appointed by VIVO Defence for the construction of the new military working dog facility for phase 1 and 2 at RAF Marham. The existing MWD facility adjacent to the site will be maintained until the new facility is ready.
The works generally consisted of the following: –
– Building Project scope: Kennel Blocks: Construction of 4 number steel framed open sided cover structures with metal profiled composite roof cladding to form kennel blocks 1, 2 3, 4 and 1 number steel framed open sided cover structure with metal profiled composite roof cladding to form the Isolation kennel block. Ancillary areas under the cover structure will be formed from insulated masonry cavity walling and insulated concrete flat roofs to included food prep areas, storerooms, locker rooms, vet treatment rooms and circulation spaces.
Central Block: the central block will be a traditional insulated masonry cavity walled structure with lightweight metal truss pitched roof over, covered with metal profiled insulated composite roof cladding.
Fittings fixtures and finishes: There are a variety of internal and external fittings fixtures and finishes as referenced within the design information. Generally, all fittings, fixtures and finishes are durable, easy clean and fit for purpose. Some equipment is client supplied however the contractor will be required to install these where and when directed by the project manager if these are available during the construction period.
External works: External works consist of new road final surfacing and re-setting of road gullies, signage, paving, bases, fencing surface and foul water drainage systems (inc rainwater harvesting), general hard and soft landscaping. Re-grading the site and distribution of surplus excavation materials and making good with topsoil and re-seeding. Formation of new wildflower feature banking.
