In partnership with Pick Everard, Coulson Building Group were appointed to develop the existing school and provide additional accommodation for expan- sion to 2FE (420 Pupils). The design solution was to demolish the existing mo- bile classrooms and construction 5 new classrooms, associated WCs, cloak- rooms, staff office and internal reconfiguration works. The creation of a new corridor and the provision of Group Space were included
Construction was completed on time ready for September 2015 occupation with the remodelling works being undertaken within the 6 week summer break allowing time for the school to fit our before term started
Coulson liaised with the Head, Governors and stakeholders at an early stage. Coulson held assemblies with staff and pupils. Leaflets were given out the lo- cal residents which warned them of any activity that might disrupt there day to day activities. These leaflets also gave them an update on progress and had progress photos of the build.
Externally the extension compliments the different coloured bricks used on the original school. The contras of a light brick wall to a dark grey cladding along with the different coloured render panels, compliments the existing school building whilst giving it a modern look. Due to a tight site, Timber panels for the external wall were constructed off site, within our office yard, and then de- livered to site when needed. Environmental impact was considered from the outset, allowing Coulson Building Group to incorporate sustainable technolo- gies and modern ideas into the extensions design
