Working with local designers, Coulson have created additional living space / apartment style accommodation by extending through into the roof space. Retaining the building’s obvious historical heritage was paramount on this project and as such the building façade was sympathetically re styled to receive the additional roof space conversion.
An extensive refurbishment was completed throughout the building, including a full M&E refit accommodating the revised layout and building requirements, refurbished rooms included GYP rooms, new ensuite bathrooms with Taplanes, shower rooms, bedrooms, corridors and stairwells.
The completion of this project was successfully recorded within the 40 week timescale and did not exceed the agreed £1.2million budget. Working with a grade 2 listed building can bring many challenges and restraints, however Coulson successfully delivered matching interiors that respected the buildings history and complimented the building wherever possible.
Castle Brae is in the heart of Cambridge, traffic and residential housing suggest extreme site access / egress restrictions, in addition the building was effectively land locked suggesting Meticulous planning to ensure minimal disruption to the residents and local community through delivery of the project.
