Formation of a new cycle hub and refurbishment of existing basement car park. Cycle hub provided changing facilities, charging points and bike storage.
Coulson Building Group were appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver a new cycle hub within an existing basement car park, supporting Brydell & Journeys commitment to sustainable travel. The hub provides secure bike storage, charging facilities and maintenance areas for the local offices, encouraging greener commuting options into Cambridge.
The project also included significant upgrades to the car park, with all lighting replaced and improved for energy efficiency, fresh paint applied to walls and ceilings and the installation of new roller shutter doors operated via ANPR for enhanced security. Additionally, the existing ventilation system was stripped out and replaced with a modern “driven” ventilation solution.
Coulson proposed an innovative approach to the ventilation system, eliminating the need to replace all existing ductwork. This simplified design delivered a quieter, more efficient system with lower running costs, saving the client £150,000 while maintaining performance and compliance. The project was completed to a high standard, on time, and within budget.
