The new Visitor Centre at Wrest Park, for English Heritage, was constructed within the walled garden of this historic house, providing improved facilities for those visiting the house and gardens.
The building was constructed using an engineered timber frame manufactured offsite and erected on a reinforced raft foundation. The roof was constructed using laminated timber beams and structural roof panels clad in seamed stainless steel sheeting.
The external walls were clad in Thermowood boarding with a stained finish.
The completed centre provides an introductory exhibition, shop and cafe and externally a children’s play area and extensive car parking facilities.
